Report \u2013 Wrafton 20 mile an hour speed limit<\/strong><\/p>\n

Members of the Wrafton 20 mile an hour speed limit group attended the meeting and explained about the problems with traffic speeds. There are houses and parking on both sides of the road in this area and two schools opposite each other. The Heanton end of the road is used as a rat run towards Ilfracombe.<\/p>\n

The items to be considered are the primary costs, the legal charges, and what would be provided by Devon County Council.<\/p>\n

The local Police Inspector is also in support of the provision of the speed limit. An initial cost of \u00a35,000 would need to be deposited with Devon County Council and further information on design and costs is awaited.<\/p>\n

26\/09\/30 County Councillor Report<\/strong><\/p>\n

The County Cllr had previously sent round his report. He updated the information on the maternity services at North Devon Hospital and was regretful that they were unable to reopen the service at the end of September. He also spoke about local government reorganisation which is currently on hold.<\/p>\n

Members asked questions. When the Pottington car boot sale is open, can the gaps on the carriageway be closed temporarily ?<\/p>\n

The patching work was good but the white lining needs work. Members also asked whether there was an update on provision of the crossing at the Williams Arms. The County Cllr replied that this would be considered at the HATOC meeting in October\/November.<\/p>\n

The County Councillor was asked to check on Police crime figures with regard to shoplifting as only 1 incident had been reported for the whole of May, June and July according to the figures he had circulated. Members want this to be followed up as staff at Tesco have to deal with shoplifters on a daily basis and Tesco management assure the Member that they are reporting it.\u00a0<\/p>\n

26\/09\/35<\/strong> To consider an update on response to correspondence sent to North Devon Council Planning re Crown Estates<\/p>\n

Members felt it was unacceptable that an application of the size of the development at Chivenor was allowed to proceed without any notification to the local Parish Council. A member wished to know whether the Local Planning Authority had visited the site to check on the installation of the solar panels and wind turbines and whether or not these were additional to the original application.<\/p>\n

With regard to the Community Hub and road surfacing, and the consultation on the Lidl development, these will no longer be included on agendas.<\/p>\n
